Ghanaian legendary highlife musician and songwriter, Amakye Dede has pronounced that glorifying music greats only when they are dead are an unworkable and unproductive gesture.
According to him, he has observed how Ghanaians paid genuine tributes and memorable ceremonies held for his colleague showbiz players only upon their departure
He sees it as ‘‘worthless’’. He shared his opinion of rewarding legends that have played memorable roles and be celebrated accordingly when they are kicking.
Speaking in an interview on Kessben TV, Amakye Dede said, “As persons if you have a way to honor somebody for their success you have to do that once the person is still alive.“
“However when you wait till the person perishes and after the person’s death you decide to reward their achievements, I feel that it is of no earnest value to the person.”
“Hence if we have any form of recognition to honor our legends, it is this time that we’re alive and not dead that we ought to be celebrated and rewarded accordingly,” he stated.
He added that; “Since we have done a lot of worthy things for the country but we don’t see it like that because I don’t see everything like that happening now’’.
