Ghanaian raggae and dancehall singer/songwriter, Jah BeLoved held a listening party and press soiree for his album dubbed “Zion Awake” at the CatFish Grill on the Gulf street at North Dorwulu of the Greater Accra Region on the Saturday 17th September,2022.
The 15 track project with an intro and outro features some big Artists like The Rap Doctor Okyeame Kwame, Turbulence, Anthony B, Sena Dagadu, Knii Lante, Ras Boomba, Elis Koina, Jahwyz, Bra Bone and New York Mexican from the United States Of America to mention few.
According to Jah BeLoved, the various people and cultures he has encountered recently influenced the creation of his new album. He went on to say that ‘Zion Awake’, is to educate, entertain and inform people to discover the best of themselves.
“Zion Awake is a concious music and its aim is to educate, entertain and inform people to discover the best of themselves” He said.
On a night where reggae music was high on the list, some very important dignitaries blessed the occassion.
The legendary Ahuma Ocansey Bosco (Daddy Bosco) was at the event alongside some personalities from the Rastafari community.
Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Elvis Afriyie Ankrah also supported the event. He was the first person to purchase the ‘Zion Awake’ album by Jah BeLoved.
Kwasi Baako popularly known as Jah BeLoved in the music industry was asked by Ahotor Fm’s reporter Emmanuel Romeo Tetteh the motive behind the album name “Zion Awake”.
He replied ” When the Rasta Man says Zion, he is talking about Africa, so I’m basically calling Africans to wake up to defend our heritage”.
“At this rate, there may be not be anything left for the future generations, so I’m just calling on Africans especially Ghanaians to rise up and discover who we are”. Jah BeLoved said.
He continued by saying “Because if we discover who we are, we will not let somebody come and destroy our water bodies for us”.
The noise at the CatFish Grill Restaurant went up when the multiple award winner Okyeame Kwame was introduced at the event.
Okyeame Kwame who was featured on the song ‘A million songs for Mama’ on the ‘Zion Awake’ album said he supported Kwasi Baako a.k.a Jah BeLoved becuase they’ve been friends since their childhood.
He used the opportunity to perform the song ‘A million songs for Mama’ with Jah BeLoved which was classified as a hit song by participants who was at the event it also moved many people to the dance floor.
The Director of Elections for the NDC Elvis Afriyie Ankrah also used the opportunity to showcase his talent in music with some freestyle.
