Three police posts in Upper Manya Krobo District in Eastern region remain closed four years after the police personnel were withdrawn from them by the Police administration.
The affected police Post are located in Akateng ,Sekesua and Otrokper communities.
The absence of police personnel in these communities is fueling anxiety and insecurity among residents and traders who travel from across the country to the communities to purchase from farmers and fishers .
Speaking to the media ,residents in the affected communities appealed to the Inspector General of Police Dr.George Akuffo Dampare to redeploy police personnel to the three police posts to operationalized them.
According to the residents, recent campaign admonishing Ghanaians to be vigilant and speak -out on the back of surge in extremists attacks in the sub-region may not yield results when the police posts are still empty without personnel.
The Akateng Police station for instance was built about under the John Mahama led NDC government through the proceeds from the sale of Premix fuel to help improve security on the back of robbery attacks.
The residents say the closure of the police Posts has made the communities vulnerable to security threats such as robberies fearing terrorists could take advantage to infiltrate the communities .
The MP Bismark Tetteh Nyarko told the media that having renovated the police Posts , he has written to the Interior Minister Ambrose Derry to redeploy personnel into it to provide security however yet to be responded to.
He said he raised similar concerns on the floor of Parliament .
