OFFICIAL: Thiago to leave Spain camp after Portugal game

Finally, Thiago Alcantara will not be able to play for the Spanish national team. A statement announced that the Liverpool player will have to leave the training camp due to a “muscle injury” after the match against Portugal.

He arrived in doubt until the last minute for the Champions League final, despite playing most of the game, and will finally leave Spain camp after the match against Portugal. Thiago Alcantara will not be with his teammates in the upcoming games.

In a statement, ‘La Roja’ explained the reason for the Liverpool midfielder’s departure: “A muscle injury will prevent him from playing the first four matches of the UEFA Nations League with the national team”.

“Thiago Alcantara has sustained a muscle injury in the back of his right leg prior to the start of training camp, which will prevent him from playing in the four matches scheduled for June in the UEFA Nations League,” the statement continued.

“The international player will remain in Spain’s camp until after the match against Portugal on Thursday 2nd June at the Benito Villamarin stadium. Luis Enrique will not call up another player in his place and will be left with 24 players to face the upcoming international matches of group A2 in the new edition of the Nations League,” he concluded.
