An economist, Isaac Yalley said the president, Nana Addo Danquah was only trying to defend the reality of the economy when asked about the terrible nature of Ghana’s economy on BBCs Focus on Africa
According to him, our micro indicators exposes the terrible state of our economy
Speaking on Simpieso, Tuesday, April 6 he indicated, it was not out of context for the president to admit and talk about the natural resource we have as a country because it is recognized worldwide
“ then do we utilize these resources to boost our economy” he asked.
“The president was only trying to justify because it is always difficult to swallow the pain therefore, had to justify at all cost” he said
Mr Yalley added that, it is only right for one to accept his mistakes, learn from them and develop a strategy to forge ahead but continuos justification and apportioning of blames might lead to retrogression
In an interview with the host, Emmanuel Martey, Alaska De Don, Mr Yalley said, the comment from the president on the e-levy shows he is ignorant about the e-levy
The president in an interview on BBC, Monday 4 March said, they are not taxing the poor with e-levy but are taxing industries
