The Presiding Bishop of the Perez Chapel, Bishop Charles Agyin Asare has indicated that, Ghana cannot do without the church
Speaking in an interview with the media, he explained that, the impact of the church in our country is unprecedented
According to him, some of the benefits derived from the churches are seen in the education and health sector
He stated that, the church has more schools in Ghana probably than the government and most of these schools have played a significant role in shaping some of the country leaders
“The Church has more schools in Ghana than probably the government. In fact, from some of the statistics I have, there are over 3,000 basic schools owned by Churches, 53 Senior High Schools, 31 Colleges of Education, and eight Church established universities and Perez University College is one,” he noted.
Bishop Asare noted that, the impact of the church cannot be seen not only in Ghana, but the world as a whole
“The world’s top institutions were all built by the church” he stated
He also noted that 21 Christian denominations under the church have set up 183 health facilities and health institutions.
He maintained that, if all these institutions shut down, the country will suffer
He argued that, the church should be given some credit and not always be made “to go and hide its head in the sand”
