Furniture deficit affecting Covid-19 fight in Ahafo Region

Despite the efforts by the Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Education’s massive campaign of social distancing in schools in Ghana, inadequate furniture in some districts in Ahafo is affecting the fight against the spread of the pandemic.

Our Correspondent Sulley Dramani in Goaso visited some schools in Asutifi South, Asunafo North and Asunafo South District and report that  some 2 to 3 children still share a desk in class.

The Asutifi South District Spokesperson of the Ghana Education Service, Anthony Ato Rockson confirmed the situation adding that, they rely on nose masks wearing to protect the children.

The Asunafo South District PRO of Ghana Education service, Jennifer Osei who also admitted the furniture deficit in school said though the Asunafo South District Assembly during the 2020 electioneering campaign distributed PPEs and Chairs to some schools but they still need more

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Asunafo Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Mr. Samuel Sarfo Antwi has appealled to the various Assemblies, NGOs and other companies that deal in timbers to come their aid to ensure social distancing in classrooms in the affected districts.
