Female footballers to benefit from YEA programme

YEA will spend an amount of GHC 240,000 monthly, on the players as they seek to support the football industry to help them overcome the huge economic impact of the pandemic

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it has reached a consensus to enrol players of the Women’s Premier League into the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) programme.

The Executive Council of the FA says, four hundred and eighty footballers will be paid GHC 500.00 as monthly allowance for the next six months beginning from July this year.

Government will spend $ 288,000 to pay players in the Women Premier League some allowances to help them overcome the negative economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This means YEA will spend an amount of GHC 240,000 monthly, on the players as they seek to support the football industry to help them overcome the huge economic impact of the pandemic.

This is part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports promise to help athletes in these difficult times after Government’s promise of a stimulus package for affected businesses

The Women’s Premier League has been suspended since mid March after Government’s decision to suspend all public gathering amid the covid-19 menace.
