The Founder and Leader of All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga has expressed his disappointment in the Vice President Dr. Mamoud Bawumia for comparing the covid-19 pandemic to the another crisis in Ghana .
Dr. Bawumia is on record to have compared the deadly covid-19 to the dumsor challenges the country experienced under the leadership of former president John Dramani Mahama.
“Dr. Bawumia was comparing covid-19 pandemic to the energy crisis in Ghana and I must say I was a bit disappointed in those kind of comparisons” the leader of APC said.
He continued by saying “I think that Dr. Bawumia should understand that the energy crisis is an internal problem and covid-19 is an exernal factor, you don’t make those kind of comparisons” he said.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga said with the external factor which is the covid-19 pandemic, we had a lot of resources coming from all part of the world and all kind of institutions supporting it and with the energy crisis which is the dumsor, you don’t get support from anywhere, you need to put policies and strategies to manage that factor.
He concluded that the vice president just used that opportunity to expose his lack of leadership and understanding of economic issues which he questioned if Dr. Bawumia is an economist and passed his final exams as an economist.
“He actually exposed his lack of leadership and understanding of economic issues and I have just one question whether Dr. Bawumia is an economist or actually he wrote exams and passed because these comparisons have expose his lack of understanding of economic issues” he said.
