Am Proud of What Football has Given Me – Attakora Amaniampong

   

In 1995, the Black Starlets of Ghana won its second FIFA U -17 World Cup trophy when the tournament was hosted by Ecuador. The Black Starlets featured a comprising the likes of Awudu Issahka, Emmanuel Bentil, Bashiru Gambo, Joe Ansah and Attakora Amaniampong.

Although not much has been heard of Attakora Amaniampong since then, the ex-Starlets player says he is proud of what football has given him in life.  

In an exclusive interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s Warm Up Sports with Daakyehene Kwabena Amoabeng, Attakora Amaniampong said he is okay in life thanks to football.  “I will like to speak for myself because I can’t talk for some people if they are ok in life or not… but for me, am ok in life. I thank God and football for that,” he said.

Attakora Amaniampong

Amaniampong who was the rock of Ghana’s defense at the tournament, expressed his anxiety for not living up to expectation.  He said ” even though I didn’t play to expectation like others, am very proud of where God has brought me because looking at some situations some of my teammates are in, I can see am far better.”  

Attakora Amaniampong is currently based in Germany where he is pursuing a coaching career.
