NDC Obtains Missing BVD Serial Numbers Despite EC Resistance-Rashid Tanko-Computer

Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), made a bold statement regarding the missing Biometric Voter Devices (BVD) serial numbers demanded from the Electoral Commission. Despite the Commission’s reluctance to disclose this information, citing security concerns, Tanko-Computer revealed that through the NDC’s efforts, they have obtained the crucial serial numbers. Speaking on the Simpieso Political Talk show on Ahotor 92.3 FM, hosted by Emmanuel Amartey (Alaska De Don) in Accra, Tanko-Computer emphasized the NDC’s commitment to ensuring fairness in electoral processes.

Accusing the EC of dishonesty and evasion, Tanko-Computer condemned the Commission’s handling of the situation under the leadership of Jean Mensah. He alleged that the EC, acting as an arm of the government, aims to manipulate elections. However, Tanko-Computer declared the NDC’s determination to secure victory for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections.

In response to the EC’s security concerns, Tanko-Computer stressed the importance of the serial numbers in tracking the missing equipment and maintaining the integrity of voter registration. He criticized the EC’s failure to prevent the theft, which occurred at the heavily guarded EC headquarters, challenging the Commission’s credibility.

As the NDC prepares for the elections, Tanko-Computer announced the party’s decision to focus on battling it out at polling stations rather than resorting to legal action. He warned against the potential consequences of the stolen equipment, including unauthorized registration and voter data manipulation, underscoring the urgency of addressing the issue.
