Ransford Chatman Vanni-Amoah, the former Secretary of the Komenda Sugar Project Management Board, has accused the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, of misleading the public about the operational status of the Komenda Sugar Factory.
Mr. Vanni-Amoah alleges that the minister deliberately lied to the Chiefs of the Komenda Traditional Area, falsely claiming that there was no pending issue related to the factory in Parliament.
Speaking on Ahotor FM‘s ‘Simpieso‘ with host Emmanuel Martey, Mr. Vanni-Amoah refuted accusations that the Minority in Parliament was obstructing the factory’s operations by opposing tax waivers for the importation of semi-processed sugar.
He also accused the NPP government of having no intention of operationalizing the factory, resulting in financial losses due to negligence and inefficiency.

He questioned the government’s commitment to the factory, highlighting issues such as the development of a nursery plantation, a management contract with West Africa Agro-Tech Company Limited (WAATCO), and the monthly payments made to WAATCO for management services.
Despite these challenges, Vanni-Amoah maintains that the Komenda Sugar Factory remains viable for operations. He urges the government to take necessary actions to revive the factory and fulfill its potential.
