Gyakye Quayson trial; Continuation an embarrassment to EC – Martin Kpebu ESQ

Private legal Practitioner, Lawyer Martin Kpebu has indicated that the continuation of James Gyakye Quayson’s trial in court will be an embarrassment to the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to him, the hypocrisy in the country is just too much because what will be the country’s interest in prosecuting the MP-elect for the good people of the Assin North constituency?
Speaking in an interview monitored by Ahotor FM, Mr. Kpebu said, there is a bill currently in Parliament that is seeking to repute the condition of dual citizens contesting to become MPs.
He said “The government is in support of the bill in Parliament hence what situation are we creating in the case of Hon James Gyakye Quayson”? he asked.
In his submission, “he said we are in the process of reputing the dual citizenship law and at the same time in the process of prosecuting somebody who allegedly breach that law”.

He said the optics are very bad and we look very confused as a country.
The Minority in Parliament has threatened to abstain from Parliamentary business any single day their colleague, James Gyakye Quayson is scheduled to appear in court.
Minority Leader, who doubles as Ajumako Enyam Essiam MP, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, made the comment while welcoming Mr Quayson back to the House.
