Afena-Gyan receives late call- up to Black Meteors Qualifiers.
Ghana Black Meteors Coach Ibrahim Tanko has handed a late call up to the Italian based forward Felix Afena-Gyan to Black Meteors camp for Ghana game against Algeria.
Afena-Gyan invitation is to strengthen his team as they look for qualification to TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Felix though has not seen enough match playing time with Cremonese in the Italian Serie A but is expected to be relied upon in both games.
He joins the likes of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Zubairu Ibrahim, Salim Adams, Alex Sarfo, Emmanuel Essiam, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Emmanuel Yeboah who also trade their career in Europe.
The Black Meteors will face Algeria in the final round of qualification but would have to travel to Algeria for the first leg encounter before hosting them in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations serves as qualifers of African countries for the Olympic football tournament with the top three teams of the tournament qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympic men’s football tournament in Paris, the fourth place team will play the AFC-CAF playoffs to decide the final slot to the Olympics.
