The head coach of the Black Stars Chris Hughton has expressed that it is always difficult to select players who play the same position.
In an interview during the Unveiling ceremony, he expressed that there are so many players who can play the national team especially when they are all playing the same position.
“There are so many players in the squad, you don’t have the decision to make and looking at Baba Iddrisu’s position, there are about 6 to 7 players I had to consider before making a decision.
You have 25 players in the squad, in my own decisions and there can be tough decisions, and when one player is a bit different from or different quality from the other player will mix in the squad”.
” Am looking at a player who will be a mix in the squad, the player with a similar position to complement others and this is a very tough decision and I can tell you this was a very tough decision but as I already said I can only pick 25 players to represent Ghana”. – he added
The first assignment of the Irish-born Ghanaian tactician in the dugout of the West African nation will be next week against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana will host the Palancas Negras of Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, March 23 before travelling to Luanda on March 27 for the second-leg tie.
