MUSIGA Is Proud of Samini- Bessa Simons.

The Acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana Bessa Simons says the group is proud of a musician becoming President of the GIMPA SRC.

Samini was elected as the president of the GIMPA Students Representative Council last week in an election held by the institution.

Making an appearance on Accra-based Ahotor 92.3 FM’s mid-morning show dubbed Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee, the veteran musician praised Samini.

Bessa Simons said MUSIGA is proud that a musician’s name is flying high in the Education sector.

“MUSIGA is proud of Samini, he has given motivation to other musicians to go back to school and not just to make up the numbers. They can use their popularity to also make a name with education. He can even become a president one day” He said.

Bessa Simons was a member of the Osibisa group and still works with the group on shows, coordinating the musical performances during Teddy Osei’s 80th birthday celebrations.

He used the opportunity to react to some of the trending happenings in Ghana.

Touching on the rise of Black Sheriff, Mr. Simons said the collaboration with Burna Boy helped the ‘Kweku the Traveller’ hitmaker, but it’s not a time for the management of the rapper to go to sleep.

 He urged the management of Black Sheriff to have a concrete plan for the grooming of the musician for his future.

 He said the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is ready to go to the polls as the voter’s register is now ready.

The President position is being contested by Bessa Simons, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, and Deborah Freeman. Commenting on his chances of winning the elections, he was confident as he thinks the transformation of MUSIGA under his leadership is unprecedented.

Sharing his plans for MUSIGA with the listeners of Ahotor 92.3 Fm, Bessa Simons’s dream of MUSIGA going digital to work effectively with some institutions like GHAMRO, Copyright Office Ghana, and others.

He said all 16 regional MUSIGA offices will be getting Secretaries and Administrative staff to help the headquarters easy joint operation with the regional offices. Bessa Simons also has a plan of paying pensions for old musicians.
