The Minority in Parliament has today, March 24 served a formal written notice to the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander to notify them of their intentions to lead a series of picketing actions against Covid-19 antigen testing
The letter sighted by Ahotor newsroom stated, “Pursuant to the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), we the undersigned Members of Parliament on behalf of our caucus and the Ghanaians we represent, duly notify your office of our irrevocable intentions to lead a series of picketing action at the Kotoka International Airport from Wednesday the 30th of March, 2022”
The letter was signed by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Kwame Agboza and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh who are the members of parliament for North Tongu, Adaklu and Juaboso respectively
They stated their firm determination to sustain these mass picketing action until such a time that Akufo-Addo led government curtails the illegal, unconscionable and extortionist covid-19 antigen testing conducted by the iffy Frontiers Healthcare Services Limited
The government engaged Frontiers Healthcare Solution Services Limited to conduct the rapid COVID-19 tests at KIA following the reopening of the airport to international passenger flights in September 2020.
The 30-minute PCR COVID-19 test initially attracted a $150 fee but was subsequently reviewed.
While the amount was maintained for non-ECOWAS citizens, those from any of the West African countries were to pay $50 for such services at Kotoka International Airport.
