The Covid-19 pandemic has brought football to its knees and as a result, the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), has allocated some money as part of the FIFA Covid-19 relief fund to be shared to its member associations in order to ease the financial burden they face in these critical times.
In June, the FIFA Council unanimously approved the FIFA Covid‑19 Relief Plan, which was designed by the FIFA administration in close cooperation with representatives of the various confederations.
This global support plan will make available up to USD 1.5 billion to assist the football community across its three stages.
Although they are yet to receive the money, the GFA has engaged its Finance Committee on the allocation of the fund in a transparent, free and fair manner.
The Finance committee of GFA has resolved that all stakeholders in Ghana Football should benefit from the fund.
The Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, Division Three clubs, Juvenile clubs, Regional Football Associations (RFA’s), Women Football, Security Service Sports Association, Referees, Schools and Colleges will all be beneficiaries.
Per Ahotor FM sports sources, the Finance committee will advice the Executive Council (Exco) to share the first tranche of $500,000 expected in July 2020 among Premier and Division one League Clubs whilst the other stakeholders benefit from the second tranche of $500,000 expected in January 2021.
The Finance committee will furnish the Exco with their report on Tuesday 14th July 2020 when the Exco meets.
