Alert ! We have not received ‘Covid 19 Allowance’ for 3 Months – Senior Police Officers revealed

A cross section of senior police officers dotted within the country at various isolation centres are complaining bitterly over non payment of their weekly stipends for 3 months Now.

An officer who expressed worry over the matter told host of AHOTOR FM 92.3, morning show, Citizen Kofi Owusu, that they have been forced to make their grievances public due to the fact that, high ranking members in the service have turn deaf ears to the issue, which have been lingering on for weeks and months.

The said senior police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the operational guidelines issued by the national police headquarters and the taskforce are no longer being enforced.

A situation according to the chief inspector, has demotivated many serving personnel, who have been stationed at designated quarantine, and isolation centres respectively.

The situation comes at the period when the cumulative cases of the coronavirus is hitting a nose dive.

Statistics released by the Ghana Health Service pegged Ghana at having recorded over 10,000 plus cases of the novel covid 19.

Media reports however suggest many isolation centres across the books and cranny of the country, are in a sorry state and admission of new cases have gotten to a crescendo , yearning for a quick emergency response by government.

The whistle-blower emphasized to AHOTOR FM that, it is imperative to appreciate dangers associated with security operatives who have been placed at isolation areas with the aim of ensuring maximum security for patients battling the disease or persons who have been brought to these centres to be examined through the mandated quarantine order.

” in fact we are in direct contact with these patients, even at the point where relative who comes for visit , finds it difficult to get closer to their relatives, hitherto, come what may we the police men on duty are forced to contact the patients at the perils of our lives ” The officer stated!

“for 3 months Now we have not seen our families, and my brother do you think that is fair ” He quizzed the host!

On the otherhand, intelligence gathered by ahotoronline.com suggests that both the military and fire service personnel are not encountering the concerns being alleged by their counterparts from the police service, and this according to some officers smacks of discrimination on the part of government.

In the heat of the Partial knockdown, similar concern arose where both junior and senior ranks in the service complained unabatedly about their daily allowances, and non availability of hot meals on daily basis.

From the look of things and happenings emerging from the corridors of especially officers from the Ghana Police service, security experts have called on government and the interior Ministry to step in to curtail any possible feud, since the situation could assume inflammatory amid dire implications on the fight against the pandemic.
