Tribal and political factions must be discouraged in the Bawku conflict — Abass Osabutey

There is a need for the government and the stake holders in the security structure must come together to use integrated approach to address the unending intra tribal conflict in the Bawku which has leads to lost of lives and other social and economic activities.
The conflict in the Bawku enclave has been intwine with political factions and interest of bargaining power which has to do with traditional control of any economic interest and affiliation to government political power, annihilation attacks on perceived opponents has create a huge task in finding a lasting solution to the conflict.
Abass Osabutey the Executive Director for Platform for Peace and Security for Africa, said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra.
Looking at the escalation of exchange of fire from the military and the recalcitrant civilians, using forced approach to restore peace in the Bawku environs will not work.
Since there is so much unruly youths and factions within the tribal groups and with economic power in the hands of power blocks is giving a lot support in perpetuating the conflict.
He reiterated that, security intelligence strategies, and security operational effectiveness, is precisely key, and important, to achieve critical outcomes in security management in hostile crime environments.
He is of the view the state must initiate a process to punish the violent perpetuators as deterrent to other people are joining the conflicts on the grounds of interest and political support from major interest groups who are gaining money from the trade of arms.
Speaking on the same platform, the National Democratic Congress Communication Team member Martin Adator, said the approval of the second tranche of the IMF loan will not change anything since the government debt portfolio and mismanagement of the economic on the party of the NPP, will not bring any economic gains.

Going forward the element of new taxes the government has proposed has already bring more economic hardship on the people and the deficit in revenue gap is not giving the government to have space to raise money for development
