Refrain from presenting yourselves as Representatives of the President – Minority to designated Ministers.

The Minority in Parliament was surprised by Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye’s inspection of health facilities as the Minister-designate for Health.

They said his appointment wasn’t complete since he hadn’t been approved despite successful vetting.

This was stated in a message signed by Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Ranking Member on the Health Committee and Juaboso MP.

They explained that Ursula Owusu Ekuful, the Minister for Communications and Digitalization, currently acting as caretaker-Minister, held the authority and power as the President’s Representative to the Ministry of Health, not Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye.

They advised Frema Akosua Osei Opare, the Chief of Staff, to revoke all illegal appointments appointing Minister-designates as Representatives of the President.

The Minority further cautioned all appointees to refrain from presenting themselves as Representatives of the President to designated Ministries.

In March, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, suspended the approval of ministerial nominees. He said an interlocutory injunction filed at the Supreme Court by the MP for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Etse K. Dafeamekpor, prevented him from approving the new ministers.
