The Ministries of Health and Finance should feel ashamed over the locked-up medical stuff at the Port – Agotime Ziope MP

Charles Agbeve, a Member of Parliament from the Volta Region, representing Agotime Ziope Constituency and serving on the Health Committee in parliament, expressed grave concern over the government’s neglect of health issues in Ghana.

In response to the medical supplies stuck at Tema Port, Hon. Agbeve emphasized that it reflects poorly on Ghana internationally.

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) focusing on HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria held a press conference urging President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in clearing over US$40 million worth of Global Fund-donated healthcare items at Tema Port. These items, vital for treating diseases like HIV, TB, and Malaria, have been stranded since May 2023, leading to severe shortages in health facilities across the country.

Hon. Agbeve criticized the government’s negligence towards the drugs at Tema Port, stating that both the Ministries of Health and Finance should feel ashamed.
