The Attorney General is entirely wrong on the Speaker’s decision to suspend approval of ministers – Abraham Amaliba

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has leveled accusations against the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, asserting that Bagbin has veered into the realm of politics. Yeboah Dame contended that Bagbin was misled when he decided to suspend the approval of Ministers nominated by President Akufo-Addo.

In his remarks, Yeboah Dame emphasized the need to halt unnecessary politicization of matters. He argued that by refraining from unwarranted politicking, clarity would emerge, leading to the realization that the action initiated by Dafeamakpor is entirely unrelated to the approval processes of the ministers and deputy ministers in question.

Responding to these assertions on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s Simpieso Political Show was Abraham Amaliba, the Director of Conflict Resolution for the NDC. Amaliba expressed his bewilderment at the Attorney General’s insistence on dictating the course of proceedings concerning the Speaker of Parliament.

During his discussion with host Emmanuel Martey, Amaliba contested the Attorney General’s stance, deeming it incorrect.

When posed with a question regarding his support for calls to impeach the President, Amaliba responded by suggesting that the damage has already been done. He proposed allowing the President to continue, potentially causing further harm, so that come the upcoming general elections in December, Ghanaians could exercise their democratic right to vote him out of office.
