One person is in critical condition while several others have sustained injuries in a tragic rainstorm disaster at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirim District of the Eastern region.
One of the victims in critical condition reportedly went into coma after suffering life threatening injuries during the storm and was rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, many houses, schools particularly the entire Asuom Presby School building, churches, a market center have been destroyed displacing over 1,500 residents.
Families and friends had to help the victims with temporal accommodation, food and clothes while others stayed in Church buildings and schools that were not severely affected
The devastating rainstorm which lasted for close to three hours on Sunday, also floored many farms creating fear of food scarcity in the area.
Officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) who swiftly visited the devastated community have described the incident as crises which requires swift national intervention.
