The Director of Communications for the United Party, Solomon Owusu, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Kpandai Constituency, Matthew Nyindam, against investing heavily in the anticipated parliamentary rerun scheduled for December 30, 2025.
According to Mr. Owusu, the rerun has already been suspended by the Supreme Court due to a pending application, making any major campaign expenditure premature and risky. He advised the NPP candidate to “save his money,” arguing that the current political mood in Ghana strongly favours the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He contended that even if a by-election is eventually held, the NDC stands a strong chance of winning the seat with minimal effort, warning that constituencies traditionally regarded as NPP strongholds are no longer guaranteed.
Mr. Owusu further noted that the political momentum enjoyed by the NDC should equally serve as a wake-up call to the party. He stressed that Ghanaians have given the NDC an overwhelming parliamentary majority and now expect tangible results.
According to him, voters anticipate decisive action, including possible constitutional amendments and long-standing reforms such as the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs). He emphasized that the NDC must use its numbers in Parliament responsibly to address these demands and shape a clear, accountable governance narrative.
He concluded by urging the governing party to align its actions with public expectations, warning that failure to deliver could quickly erode the goodwill currently working in its favour.
