NPA raises fuel price floor from GHC9.00 to GHC10.00

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has raised the minimum price floors for petroleum products in the second pricing window of February 2026, effective today.

In a release dated February 16, 2026, the NPA set the petrol price floor at GHC10.24 per litre up from GHC9.99 in the first window. Diesel now starts at GHC11.34 per litre (previously GHC10.95), while LPG rises to GHC9.43 per kilogram.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG marketers must comply immediately, with no sales allowed below these thresholds. This could push several firms to hike pump prices, even those aiming to hold steady amid competition.

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies urged members to follow the Petroleum Products Pricing Guidelines strictly. It noted that the floors exclude premiums from International Oil Trading Companies, margins for Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies, and those of marketers and dealers which companies set independently.

Compliance, the Chamber stressed, supports market stability, consumer protection, and fairness in the downstream sector.
