NDC Youth Leader Raises Alarm: Unemployment Threatens Ghana’s Security

George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed worry about how unemployment among graduates can harm Ghana’s security.

Mr. Opare Addo said that having many graduates without jobs is a threat to national security.

When you have a lot of people who are graduates with some level of training and education and they are idle, it poses a danger to our national security,” he told Nana Dogbe on Ade Kye Mu Nsem.

Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 FM, Mr. Opare Addo suggested that unemployed graduates could use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for negative purposes if they know about it and have no jobs to keep them occupied.

And with the way AI is driving the world, even though it has positive aspects, it can also be negative. So, when you have an educated person who knows or understands some of these things and you leave him or her idle, you are in danger,” he remarked.

George Opare Addo also questioned the government’s efforts to create jobs. He mentioned that the government hasn’t created the right conditions for people to find employment.

If you’ve created enough jobs like you claim, unemployment should be going down. This government has not created the enabling environment for people to get jobs,” he opined.
