Ghana FA Cup champions Nations FC will face Mali’s FC Diarra in the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup following the official draw held in Cairo on Thursday.
The tie marks a historic milestone for the Kumasi-based club, who will be making their maiden appearance in a CAF inter-club competition after securing qualification by winning the 2025/26 Ghana FA Cup.
Nations FC will begin their continental journey away from home, with the first leg scheduled to be played in Mali between September 4 and 6, 2026. The return leg will take place in Ghana between September 11 and 13, where the Ghanaian outfit will look to seal progression to the next stage.
Should Nations FC overcome FC Diarra over the two legs, they will advance to the second preliminary round to face the winner of the tie between Niger’s AS Zam and Togo’s ASKO De Kara.
The Confederation Cup campaign presents a major opportunity for Nations FC to announce themselves on the African stage as they seek to make an immediate impact in their debut continental season.
With preparations expected to intensify ahead of the September fixtures, Nations FC will be aiming to successfully negotiate the preliminary rounds and move a step closer to reaching the lucrative group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
