Leaders must be circumspect in all public statement —– Kwesi Poko

Leaders and public office holders must be circumspect in all statements they speak to in all platforms in addressing and responding to issues of national interest. The two political major parties; National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are liable in making unguarded statements, more especially on all our political platforms.

The Tema West Constituency Chairman Hon. Kwesi Poko Bosompem, said this on Adkyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu in Accra. He reiterated that, why leaders that we look up to as the mirror to the society cannot speak up to the truth.

We have come of age of committing this error of inciting people to violence because of fighting for political power. There is a need for all public office holders to desist from this act, for all of us to coexist for national development.

Reacting to the news item where the; President Akufo-Addo has strongly condemned the actions of certain National Democratic Congress (NDC) members who were captured in viral videos wielding machetes around the office premises of the party’s flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, following a purported cleanup exercise.

Speaking on the same platform, the member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National communication team member Ben Doe said the comments coming from the Deputy Communication Officer Malik Basintale of the NDC was unfortunate and he condemned it in all uncertain terms.

Though there was a good idea about the clean up exercise, there is a need for the national officer to be circumspect in communicating to the youth group that will show love and unity in all public discourse.

He thumps up for the former president John Dramani Mahamah for condemning the statement coming from the Deputy Communication officer, Malik Basintale. This he said speaks of him as statesman in all circles of leadership as a former president of Ghana.
