Kpone Katamanso Assembly Marks Independence Celebration with Outstanding Progress

The Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region marked Ghana’s 69th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly Hall. The event, held on March 6, 2026, drew a distinguished gathering including Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Samuel Tetteh Morton, members of the Assembly, the revered Kpone Chief Nii Amankwah Ogli V, officials from the Municipal Education Directorate, and various dignitaries. Patriotic performances by schoolchildren, adorned in white-and-red attire, filled the air with national anthems and cultural displays, underscoring the spirit of unity and self-determination that has defined Ghana since its independence from British colonial rule in 1957.

In his keynote address, MCE Hon. Samuel Tetteh Morton seized the occasion to commend the students and teachers of the Kpone Katamanso Municipality for their remarkable strides in academic performance. He highlighted that results from recent examinations showed substantial improvement over the previous year, attributing this success to dedicated teaching efforts and increased support from the assembly. Our educators and young learners have shown resilience and excellence, setting a foundation for a brighter future, Morton declared, urging continued commitment to education as a cornerstone of municipal development. The praise was met with applause, reflecting community pride in the education sector’s upward trajectory.

The MCE also painted an optimistic picture of infrastructure transformation across the municipality, describing Kpone Katamanso as a bustling construction zone alive with progress. He announced that ongoing road improvement projects, critical for enhancing connectivity and economic activity, are slated for completion by the end of 2026. These initiatives, Morton explained, aim to ease transportation challenges, boost trade, and improve access to essential services for residents. What was once a vision is now becoming reality through deliberate action and partnership, he emphasized, signaling the assembly’s resolve to deliver tangible benefits to the growing population.

A key highlight of Morton’s speech was the revival of long abandoned projects, now completed and poised for commissioning in multiple locations. These include community facilities and infrastructure works that had stalled due to funding and logistical hurdles, but have been prioritized under the current administration. Residents can expect these assets ranging from market upgrades to public utilities to be operational soon, fostering economic empowerment and better living standards. This achievement underscores the assembly’s commitment to accountability and efficient resource management.

The celebration concluded with traditional libations, award presentations to outstanding students, and a call to action for all stakeholders to support the municipality’s development agenda. As Kpone-Katamanso continues to evolve, events like this not only honor national independence but also reaffirm local governance’s role in building a prosperous future.
