The Member of Parliament for the Ada Constituency, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has urged all women to unite and oppose remarks like those made by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin regarding Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
In Parliament on Monday, March 11, the Majority Leader remarked that the selection of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, a woman in her 70s, as the NDC’s running mate, suggests a lack of succession plan and visionary leadership within the NDC.
Speaking on Ahotor 92.3 FM, Hon. Doyoe asserted that such comments are merely a tactic to intimidate women in politics. She called upon women to rally behind their sister, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, and resist such tactics in the name of God.
“Women, let’s unite and support our sister (Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang) and resist these tactics in God’s name. It’s a tactic they want to use to intimidate women in politics,” she expressed to Citizen Kofi Owusu.

Hon. Doyoe also criticized President Akufo-Addo, pointing out that “Akufo-Addo was older than Prof. Jane when he was introduced, and no woman fought that. But suddenly, when it’s a woman’s turn, she is called old. The same people who introduced an elderly man who falls asleep at events are now saying this; that is hypocrisy,” she remarked.
