Six member national para powerlifting team composed of four athletes and two coaches departed Accra-Ghana yesterday morning by Egyptair to Cairo to participate in the 2022 Cairo African Open Para Powerlifting Championships.
The team members, five males and one female, are:
1. Oku Emmanuel nii Tettey – Athlete
2 Haruna Tahiru – Athlete
3 Obeng Isaac – Athlete
4 Nyamekye Patricia – Athlete
5 Nyarko Prince – Coach
6 Abubakari Abdulai – Coach
The Championships, part of the WPPO mandatory qualification events for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, will start on 27 October and end on 30 October 2022.

The Championships are being organized under the auspices of the World Para Powerlifting Organization(WPPO) and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee.
Meanwhile, Mr Samson Deen, the president of both the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana and the African Paralympic Committee, has been invited to attend as the Guest of Honour and grace the opening ceremony scheduled to take place on 27 October 2022. The president was also at the Kotoka International Airport this morning to bid the team farewell.
They will return to Ghana on 31 October 2022.
