Election 2024: NDC is the Only Solution to Ghana’s Broken Economy – Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has once again positioned himself as the only leader capable of rescuing Ghana from its deteriorating economic situation. During a passionate address to energized crowds in Nadowli and Wichaw as part of his three-day campaign tour in the Upper West Region, Mahama pledged bold, decisive reforms aimed at revitalizing Ghana’s faltering economy if elected in the December 7 general elections.

With a message of hope, resilience, and renewal, Mahama emphasized that the nation’s youth, who have been hardest hit by the current economic decline, must not lose faith. He described the economic situation under the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as disastrous, directly blaming the government for gross economic mismanagement that has left millions of Ghanaians in financial hardship. According to Mahama, the NPP’s policies over the past eight years have only deepened the economic crisis, exacerbating unemployment, stagnating wages, and choking opportunities, especially for young people.

Mahama did not shy away from painting a grim picture of the current state of affairs. He pointed to soaring inflation, unsustainable debt levels, and a rapidly weakening currency as clear indicators of a country in economic distress. This, he argued, has resulted in widespread frustration and hopelessness among Ghanaians, particularly the youth, who see their future slipping away.

“The NPP has wrecked our economy,” Mahama declared, “but the NDC is coming to fix it. We have the experience, the vision, and the will to turn this around.” He assured the nation that under an NDC government, Ghana would see the dawn of economic recovery, with policies aimed at creating jobs, stabilizing the currency, and reducing the cost of living.

In a heartfelt appeal to the youth, Mahama urged them not to give in to despair. “I know many of you are losing hope,” he said. “But I promise you, Ghana will rise again. The NDC will rebuild this economy and restore your confidence in the future. Don’t give up; the change you seek is coming.”
