Dede Ayew was my National Team Playing Mate but Not My Friend – Asamoah Gyan Revealed
Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has revealed that his relationship with his fellow Ghanaian footballer, Andre Dede Ayew despite sharing the field was as national teammates and their connection didn’t extend beyond the pitch.
In an interview on another platform, the former general captain emphasized that his relationship with his former teammate was cordial and strictly professional on the field especially in the national team but not necessarily translate into off-field friendships . People outside the National team created that unnecessary tension between us.
He announced his retirement from international football on 20 May 2019, a month to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Gyan retired as Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, amassing a total of 51 goals in 109 appearances for his country. He also retires holding the record for the highest number of goals scored by any African player in the history of the World cup with a tally of six goals.
