Hannah Afriyie, the recipient of gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4x400m along with a silver medal in 4x100m at the esteemed All African games held in 1978, recently disclosed that she was at the pinnacle of her form during the Montreal games in 1976.
However, Ghana’s withdrawal from the tournament rendered her efforts futile. She lamented that she could have brought glory to her nation had it participated.
Furthermore, Hannah elucidated how circumstances led to her decision to quit running after Ghana boycotted the Olympic Games held in 1980 despite being fully prepared for it.
The fact that Ghana abstained from two consecutive Olympics also played a role in this decision.
