The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo -Addo has dismissed allegations of interference with investigations of suspected corruption by his appointees.
The President argued that no government has subjected it’s members to the levels of investigations like he has.
He made this known at the launch of the Evaluation of Ghana’s Maiden National Ant-corruption Action Plan (NACAP).
He indicated that, the attempt to describe him as a ‘clearing agent’s has no basis.
“It is not my job to clear or convict any persin accused of wrongdoing or of engaging in acts of wrongdoing despite the effort of some to tag me as a clearing agent. That is the work of the court and the law enforcement agencies”.
President Akufo -Addo emphasized the importance of evaluating NACAP’s contributions to combating corruption in all sectors.
NACAP constitutes Ghana’s National Framework to drive Anti-Corruption activities and promote national development.
The plan contains strategic action plans identified and agreed upon by stakeholders during nationwide consultations.
The Implementation of NACAP is in response to the delivery of Ghana’s obligations under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), the 1992 constitution and the president’s commitment to fighting corruption.
