The Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams has said that, the Electoral Commission of Ghana chaired by Jean Mensah does not listen to advice.
According to him, their failure to heed to advice is what reflected last Tuesday during the District Assembly level elections.
Speaking to Nana Dogbe on ‘Adekye Mu Nsem’ airborne on Ahotor FM this morning, Mr Adams reiterated that, what happened is a clear indication that, the ECs preparation wasn’t right and all the advice given to them fell on deaf ears hence the challenges.
The Buem lawmaker was commenting on the fall-out of the Local Assembly Elections that took place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
Meanwhile district assemblies who had their polls postponed are exercising their franchise today, December 21.
40 districts in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions experienced challenges, including errors on ballot papers, delays in distributing voting materials, and non-functioning Biometric Verification Devices (BVD).
Following this, the Coalition of District Election Observers(CODEO) expressed disappointment in the EC for failing to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the District Level Elections.
CODEO explained that there were technical difficulties with the ballot machines and problems with the printing of ballot papers particularly in the Ashanti and Eastern region which led to the postponement of the elections.
CODEO criticised the (EC)for not meeting expectations and called on the commission to improve its performance.
