Kan Dapaah is rather the threat to National Security – Emmanuel Azubila

The Executive Secretary of ADAM GH a civil society organization on advocacy and good governance Mr. Emmanuel Azubila Salam Abdul stated that the statement and the call by the Minister of Interior Hon. Albert Ken-Dapaah, saying comments and reactions from the academia, civil society organizations, and individuals can amount to coup threat, is just unfortunate and describe the Minister as the threat to the state rather.

He said looking at the injustices, corruption, and all kinds of social vices going on in the country and the alleged corruption cases and the government looks unconcern and allowed people going through severe economic hardship are some of the security threats and not citizens speaking to issues and challenges that they are going through.

He recounts economic issues such as youth unemployment, domestic debt management of pension bondholders, and state capture and alleged corruption scandals in the country should be considered as a security threat.

He further stated that the politicization of the Judiciary, Electoral Commission, and National Security are the major threats to the state. The major functions of this institution are believed by the citizens of the country to be in bed with the NPP government.

Mr. Emmanuel Azubila opined that the proposal from the EC and Ken-Dapaah to control social media frowns on our democracy where social media platforms and comments from civil society and the academia, enhance our public discourse complimenting national issues for national development.

He called on the government to sit up, since the reality on the ground is the citizenry is losing trust in the government and the national security in responding to issues of national concern.

He asked why speaking to issues in different ways for national development can be a threat to national security. He said the government has all the powers and institutions under him to act and prosecute any person found to break the law on free speech.
