The president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo can best be described as a political liability of the government and an albatross on the New Patriotic Party communication team, the flagstaff communication outfit above all serial callers since the first gentleman of the land public blunder in communication is becoming to reckless and unreserved.
The difficulties Ghanaians are going through behooves the president to be circumspect in addressing the flood victims in the Volta region by putting priority on their challenges, rather than the interest of votes; above all the way in addressing the huge problems confronting the country.
The senior lecturer of the University of Cape Coast Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere discloses this on Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor FM 92.3 in Accra.
He was reacting to the president’s comment as he engaged the victims of the affected flood by the spillage of Akosombo and Kpong Dam. He said it’s very unfortunate the managers of the president cannot help to manage this communication guff which he believes has become too of many in the president’s public communication.
Touching on the presser of the Electoral Communication (EC) reports he said the commission has a lot to do going forward since all his projection and proposals of using the Ghana Card in considering the CI laid in parliament was defeated if 61.9% of the people who turn up to register as the first time voter in the just ended voter registration uses the guarantor system is very unfortunate and defeatist agenda if the EC had an intention which is not clear to the public.
He said by all indication the percentage of the citizens with the Ghana Card are in a smaller percentage.
He reiterated that it’s illogical for the EC to convince us why the commission is still insisting on using the Ghana Card; since the evidence on the ground shows clearly that the National Identification Authority (NIA) is under resource to make the card available for the citizenry.
He therefore calls on the government to resource the NIA to carry out this national assignment for the citizens to acquire the card without any challenges.
Going forward the EC was just criticizing the political parties for nothing, without incorporating their suggestions and opinions to achieve expected results.
He opined that he would not be far by stating that, it seems to be the EC has an agenda that the public cannot comprehend.
