Nineteen players have landed in Charlotte to begin rehearsing for the upcoming international friendly against Mexico and the United States.
As part of the preparation for the opening game against Mexico, the squad exercised at the Charlotte FC training facility on Tuesday evening. Richard Ofori, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Kingsley Schindler, Nicholas Opoku, Stephan Ambrosius, Gideon Mensah, Joseph Aidoo, Joseph Painstil, Salis Abdul Samed, Ernest Nuamah, Ransford Konigsdorffer, Jordan Ayew, Elisha Owusu, Inaki Williams, Edmund Addo, and Thomas Partey were among them.
The players rehearsed for one hour in Charlotte as they geared up for their first game against Mexico on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, Ghana will face the United States of America at the GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
The two games will be used by coach Chris Hughton to assess his players ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
According to sources, the Black Stars will play a few friendly matches before facing Mexico in their first encounter at the Charlotte Bank of America stadium.
The match is part of Mexico and the United States’ preparations for the CONCACAF quarterfinals, which are scheduled for November 2023.
The matches will also provide an excellent opportunity for the Black Stars to figure out their plans for the coming 2023 AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast in 2024. The friendly matches will also serve as crucial practice for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which will begin in November 2023.
