Central regional chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Kofi Asiedu is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to take urgent action following what he says is the intelligence of gun-wielding men at Assin Praso in the Assin North constituency ongoing by-election.
According to him, the IGP promised them yesterday that, he is not going to allow anyone with arms to any of the polling stations but the scenario on grounds today is different as hoodlums are displaying gunshots everywhere.
Speaking to the media in an interview at Assin Praso, Chairman Kofi Asiedu said the MPs are armless and even the police personnel are not with arms hence the situation is quite difficult for them.
He said they are not going to allow anyone to mud the beauty of the democracy the country is practicing.
“Assin North is very peaceful and they will make sure they allet the police should anything pubs up, that is why we are here”, he added.
