Upper East Regional Security Coordinating Council has reiterated that the ban on the sale and consumption of ruminants including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and donkeys is still in force.
Earlier the council assured of lifting ahead of the E-ID celebration if the condition attains a 70% vaccination rate.
There is however an increase in the number of deaths in livestock from Anthrax.
In a statement cited by Ahotor News, the council added that persons who intend to slaughter livestock as part of the e-id celebration should do so under the strict supervision of the environmental health officers.
The committee on June 7, 2023, placed an indefinite ban on the movement, slaughtering, and consumption of ruminants following the outbreak of anthrax.
Meanwhile, the Upper East regional chief Imam Sheike Alhaji Usif Umar Al-Imam is urging Muslims to abide by the directive of the regional security council.
