(LISTEN): Give us a place to sit when it rains – MPs drivers lament

Drivers of Members of Parliament (MPs) lament over lack of conducive place to sit and wait for their bosses after dropping them as they were beaten by rain today.

Speaking to our Parliamentary Correspondent Collins Owusu Debrah, some of the drivers said even though their names was used to secure funds to build them shelter but it has not been handled over to them.

Even though a new facility to support the Chamber Services called the ‘Chamber Support Services Block’ has been constructed, the drivers says they still don’t have access to the facility.

The facility is a three-storey building with over 20 offices for staff of the Parliamentary Service and drivers’ waiting centre.

The drivers’ waiting centre consists of one office, a reception area, 60 to100-seater area for drivers, an eating area, a snack bar and a washroom (male/female).

The drivers pleaded with the authorities to hand the newly constructed Chamber Support Services Block to them as they don’t have any place to sit when they drop their bosses in parliament.

Some drivers who got beaten by the rain today, speaking to our reporter pleaded with the authorities to come to their aid.
