(Listen): The pull him down attitude must stop to help move Ghana Music forward – Prof. Akyeampong to Musicians

Branding expert, Prof. Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong, is calling for unity among Ghanaian musicians to help the music industry grow.
Speaking at a career Enhancement seminar organized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) at the Virtual Hub Gh in East Legon on the topic “Brand Management and the Music Industry”, Prof. Akyeampong said the pull him down syndrome in the music industry is affecting the growth of Ghana’s music sector and serious solution is needed urgently.
“Music is all things being equal an instrument for unity and not disunity, for National cohesion and not National under-development” Prof. Akyeampong said.
He challenged MUSIGA to come together with a song to support the Men’s Senior National Team the Black Stars who will be competing in this year’s world cup in Qatar later this year.
“We are about to have our World Cup in about three months and I challenge the MUSIGA, what are we doing to come out with a music like when Prof.Mills died may his soul rest in peace”.
“Is it because as a result of disunity that we cannot come together to come out with one music to promote the National agenda?” Pro. Akyeampong asked.
Prof. Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong therefore called for unity in the Ghana Music Industry to help the sector grow.
“I am emphasizing here that without unity we can never make any headway in this industry and the pull him down attitude must stop”. He said.
Prof. Osei Akyeampong also admonished emerging musicians to identify and focus on a unique brand rather than being associated with multiple identities.

Topics discussed at the seminar included, “Building and Managing Your Brand” by Prof Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong, “The New Music Business” which was presented by Ahuma Bosco Ocansey (Daddy Bosco), an industry veteran and Director of Special Projects and Communications of MUSIGA and “Making Money in the Digital Space” which was also presented by Kwabena ‘Spikey’ Ofei Kwadey Nkrumah.
