Head of price statistics at the Ghana statistical service Mr. John foster Agyaho has said that food prices in relation to goods and services may continue to raise despite onset of harvest season.
According to him, our inflation keeps raising and currently we have jumped from 29.7% to 31.7% between June and July running through August which he describes as ugly because this is the highest inflation accounting from 2003.
He said this is as a result of high imported inflation.
‘’Why would you expect food prices to go down whilst we keep importing’’ he asked.
They said the increase in inflation is been caused by transport, housing, water, electricity, gas amongst others.
Meanwhile Agric minster Dr Afriyie Akoto says there is enough food in stock that could keep us surviving for years but the prices he admits is above expectation.
