Hearts are ready to reward attacking star Daniel Afriyie Barnie with a lucrative new contract, phobianews.com understands.
The Phobians recognise the progress Barnie has made in the last couple of years – going from a highly-rated youth talent on the fringes of the squad – to a mainstay in Hearts and Ghana’s national teams (Black Satellites and Black Galaxies).
Barnie, who joined Hearts in January 2020 on a 3-year-deal has performed brilliantly under Samuel Boadu. His previous deal still has six months left to run. Both Barnie and Hearts’ negotiators believe that the Ghana international deserves a hefty pay rise at the club.
Hearts’ leadership are now readying talks with Barnie and his representatives. It is believed that Hearts might pay close to the Gh¢15,000 salary the player is demanding, while the deal could also extend by another couple of years. Although a formal offer is yet to be made, it is not perceived from either side that there will be any problems getting the deal finalised before the current contract runs out early next year.
