Family disappointed over latest adjournment of Kaaka’s murder trial

The family of the late Ibrahim Muhammed, popularly known as Kaaka, has expressed worries over how his murder trial is being handled.

The case has been adjourned 14 times.

During the previous hearing, Setutsinam Anaglate, the lawyer for the family who is representing Kaaka’s brother, who is on remand for his alleged involvement in his brother’s death, expressed worry over the adjournments.

“No prosecutor is in court. The suspects are not in court. Nothing happened,” the brother of Kaaka, Nafiu Muhammed told the media.

He also urged the relevant authorities to attach more seriousness to the matter since it has gained national attention.

“It is quite surprising that this thing has been adjourned continuously since July last year,” Mr. Muhammed said.

He also noted that the dragging of the case is putting extra pressure on the family.

“The little resources we have at hand to take care of the five daughters left behind by Ibrahim Muhammed Kaaka are the same resources we have been using to follow the case in court,” he added.

Kaaka died on Monday, June 28, 2021, after he was attacked by unknown assailants while returning home from an event he attended in the area.
