Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has underscored government’s renewed commitment to modernizing Ghana’s sports infrastructure as a key pillar of the national reset agenda.
Speaking at the 50th Awards of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), she praised the association for its remarkable contribution to documenting the evolution of sports in the country.
According to her, SWAG has chronicled “women of triumph, stories of love, discipline, and the remarkable journey of sports development in Ghana,” helping shape national appreciation for sports excellence.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the association’s dedication has inspired Ghanaians to celebrate the heroes and heroines whose sweat and passion have elevated the nation’s sporting image. She added that the Golden Jubilee marks not only a celebration of past achievements but also a renewed call to chart a purposeful and progressive future for Ghana’s sports sector.

The Vice President reiterated government’s readiness to partner with stakeholders to enhance sporting facilities, support athletes, and build a stronger sports ecosystem that reflects Ghana’s aspirations on the continental and global stage.
