Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare convened with leaders from the Federation of Tomato Growers Associations and the Ghana National Tomato Traders and Transporters Association on Wednesday, December 17, to tackle disruptions in the tomato value chain.
Held in the Ministry’s conference room, the meeting allowed stakeholders to highlight persistent issues like pricing disputes, transportation hurdles, post-harvest losses, and limited market access—factors fueling nationwide tomato distribution problems
Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the government’s dedication to partnering with industry players for sustainable fixes that safeguard livelihoods, promote fair trade, and bolster local agribusiness. She stressed the importance of collaboration among growers, traders, and transporters to expand the sector and cut dependence on tomato imports from neighbouring countries.
Association representatives praised the dialogue and voiced hope for actionable steps to improve tomato trade and transport, especially in Tuobodom in Techiman North District.
