The Bono Regional Police Command has begun investigations into a viral video allegedly showing some police officers taking money from motorists along the Sampa–Wenchi road.
According to the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Command took swift action immediately after the video surfaced, leading to the interdiction of three officers implicated in the footage.
Chief Inspector Akeelah revealed that preliminary investigations have confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, October 27, 2025.
He explained that in the video, which has been widely circulated on social media, several uniformed police officers are seen stopping motorcyclists and engaging them in conversations that appear to involve the exchange of cash.
> “The officers captured in the video have been identified and interdicted to allow for a thorough investigation,”
Chief Inspector Akeelah stated.
He described the conduct of the officers as unprofessional and contrary to the ethics and standards of the Ghana Police Service, emphasizing that the Command remains committed to upholding discipline, transparency, and public trust.
> “The Command views the actions seen in the video as unacceptable. We will ensure accountability and take appropriate disciplinary measures should the officers be found guilty,”
he added.
Chief Inspector Akeelah further urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue, assuring that the outcome will be made public upon completion.
